Richie Ivory will be looking to add to his impressive string of knockout wins when BRACE heads to The Gold Coast on October 8th.

The Irishman, who fights out of Bendigo Mixed Martial Arts, has finished his last three fights by strikes in the first round, including a vicious head kick KO in his last fight at BRACE 42 in August.

While Ivory has a knack for finishing his opponents quickly, and likes to do just that,  he has no issues going the full three rounds if required. For this camp in particular he has brought in black belts, Russian wrestlers and high calibre MMA fighters to ensure he notches up his fourth win on the trot.

“The last three fights have been quick. I love knocking people out but I will more than prepared for a 15 minute war,” Ivory told BRACE MMA.

Standing across the cage from Ivory will be undefeated grappling specialist and former judoka Michael Tobin, who has finished 10 of his 11 fights by submission. Ivory, who holds a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, isn’t at all intimidated by Tobin’s submission credentials and is relishing the opportunity to test his own grappling skills. In fact Ivory feels he has the skills to threaten for a submission of his own if the fight hits the mat at any point.

“I’m looking forward to testing my grappling skills against Tobin…his 10 submissions don’t impress me.

“If he take me down I’m sure I will have my hands full as he is a big strong guy but I still feel I have the skills to grapple with him and maybe even shock him with a submission of my own.”

Despite being more than confident if the fight hits the mat, Ivory will be gunning for another highlight reel finish on the feet and feels he can expose Tobin’s lack of striking prowess should he keep the fight standing.

“If I can keep him off me I will knock him out 100%, his hands are way too slow and predictable.”

Tobin is widely considered one of the best young fighters in the country and has only been taken the distance once. If Ivory can get a clear victory over the top prospect it will be a huge scalp for the trophy cabinet and will firmly establish Ivory as one to beat down under.
