In font a of a vocal Townsville crowd on Saturday night, Filipino born Melbourne based Luke “The Lycan” Catubig upset home town favourite Edwin “El Bomba” Arana with a second round TKO securing the BRACE bantamweight championship. Arana had his moments in the first controlling much of the round against the cage, but it was Catubig that looked the fresher fighter in the second. In what was expected to be a stand and bang affair, this fight was contested completely in the grapple. Catubig secured Arana’s back in the second and finished with strikes. Arana announced his retirement after the contest.
The Co Main event was a local derby between Aden Strike Hawke vs Kris Spence. This back and forth fight of the night performance had the crowd cheering from start to finish. Hawke secured an armbar late in the second round to take the victory and his post fight speech was as entertaining as the fight.
